Donald Vollema: Piano realization of Symphony in C, 3rd Movement, G. Bizet

Posted 23 August 2009 by

When interviewing for the associate minister of music position at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lynnwood, Washington, my partner had to prepare suggested music for the first service at the Pointe of Grace campus on Sunday, September 13, 2009. An unusual feature of Pointe of Grace is that there is no organ, but a good Boston piano.

It wasn’t his hymn playing or service music playing that caught the committee’s attention. What impressed them most was what he planned to use for postlude, a piano realization of the 3rd movement of Symphony in C Major by Bizet.

He was asked to play it early at Trinity, so he did.
