Veterans Day

Posted 11 November 2009 by

Officially, the US is very clear that Veterans Day is not Remembrance Day. We have Memorial Day to remember the fallen. Today is the day to remember the sacrifice of all veterans in time of war.

My father, a disabled veteran, won’t talk about everything he saw in Korea. I understand there are some pictures hidden away in my mother’s cedar chest that will make all things clear one day. That is, after he dies.

It is said there are some things worse than death. Maybe living with it everyday through your memories is one of those things.

When I was living there, I found out that my father couldn’t stay in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in December. It reminded him of Korea.

For my Canadian friends, remember the 11th hour of the 11th day or the 11th month. And, may your dead as well as all the dead of war answer the rouse.
