The Queen’s BirthdayPosted 21 May 2010 by Bob Chapman
In Canada, the last Monday before or on 24 May is celebrated as Victoria Day. Officially it honors Queen Victoria and celebrates the current monarch’s birthday (whatever the real date may be). One could assume that this happened because Victoria was queen for so long and people became used to marking the start of summer vacations with her birthday.
In the United States, we have the Quean’s Birthday on 22 May. It is the birthday of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay person elected to public office in the United States.
I think this excerpt gives balance to the importance of hope in our lives.
